At Kickstand, we promote the bicycle as a tool for education, empowerment, neighborhood cohesion, environmental protection, and active transportation.

Kickstand is a volunteer-run cycling and recycling resource center, located in East Vancouver. A non-profit society, we provide a low-barrier and affordable workspace to anyone interested in repairing or working on their bike. You can learn bike mechanics here too! Kickstand volunteers, guide individuals to repair, dismantle and refurbish bikes on their own. 

Did you know that kickstand is volunteer run?

That mean’s that sometimes we have to make changes to our hours at short notice. To ensure we’re open when you drop by, make sure to check our social media for the most up-to-date information. We do our best to give the public 24hrs notice!

Kickstand is open to the public :

  • Monday 5pm-9pm

  • Wednesday 5pm-9pm

  • Thursday 6pm-9pm (Women, Trans, & Queer access night)

  • Friday 5pm-9pm

  • Sunday 1pm-5pm

WHAT YOU CAN DO AT KICKSTAND

Kickstand is a Do It Yourself / Do It Together bicycle workshop. We provide an accessible, safe, and positive workspace for folks from all walks of life to repair and maintain their bicycles and other wheeled modes of transportation. We offer a bicycle workstand, tools, and someone to guide you on how to repair/service your bike.
We do not offer full-service repairs, you do the work! We also support users who have accessibility needs, for more information checkout our Vision, Mission, Values and Safer Spaces Agreement!

Some things to know:

  • you might get your hands dirty - we provide gloves

  • you need to use tools

  • we need to keep the lights on, so a donation for use of shop facilities is greatly appreciated

  • we sell new and used parts (we try to keep these prices low)

The typical repairs and service you can do include:

  • flat tire repairs

  • replacement of cables, chains, and brake pads

  • brake and shifting adjustments

  • tube/tire replacements, rack installs, fender installs

  • safety checks and tune-ups

You do not need bike mechanic skills to use Kickstand facilities, we will teach you what you need to know.
